Our STEAM internships play a special role in Signature.
Years ago, after learning about all of the wonderful activities that our science students completed on their own, we decided to formalize the experiences, and the science internship program was born.
Six year later, and after two name changes (Science > STEM > STEAM Internships), we have a robust and popular program for eleventh and twelfth graders, that forms the heart of our Signature program. We used this model to start Signature, and it continues to be the backbone of our program.
STEAM interns travel to institutions every week for a three-hour block of time. They work on all areas of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) with professionals in the field. They are enrolled in a hybrid (online and in person) course on campus, and they blog about their experiences weekly and share their work with the entire school community at the end of the year. Applications to the program are highly sought after.
