Signature Field Trip – Community Gardens

Keeping our eyes open for new Signature opportunities in the Capital District, we traveled to the grand opening of the new headquarters of Community Gardens. The snow held off and the audience was large in downtown Troy this morning. Despite the clamor of nearby construction, and noisy traffic, Amy Klein (executive director) delivered a rousing speech, complete with vine (read “ribbon”) cutting and a surprise announcement: they changed their name. No longer Community Gardens, they are now Community Roots! A great name that draws attention to their wonderful work in the community, both for local farmers and consumers. Helena Y. joined us on this inspiring visit on the Hudson River. I am looking forward to students working there in the future!
